I wanted to bring a mundane object to life so we can appreciate the intricacy of it. Like many of my other piece’s inspiration also partially came from vintage Campari ads with their simplicity and use of vibrant cohesive colours.
Outcome: With the vibrant colours and the complex simplicity of the design, I feel that it grabs the viewers’ attention. The attention is then held with the intricacy of the subject and variety of visual stimulation within the tacklebox itself. There is so much to look at, but in a way it remains simple.")

The two queens were both given a rageful personality, however I wanted to differentiate them from one another by playing with visual opposites. Where one queens nose is turned up, the others is turned down, the same goes for their eyes, the colour of their clothing being inverse, and even their hair styles. Inspiration also comes from
Outcome: It tells a story and gives elements of fantasy as we see these cards coming to life and participating in a scenario. The two angry queens punish the poor jack to their right as the nervous joker sneaks away from the scene. The hierarchy in this scene also mirrors that of many card games, where the queens’ rule over the jacks and where the jokers are often “wild cards.”")

Process: Creating a logo with a vintage appeal, drawing inspiration from the 1950s, that conveys a dystopian, otherworldly atmosphere reminiscent of a lost era. The Inspiration for this piece is rooted in a 1950s vintage aesthetic, including influences from pre-movie concession cartoons of that time. Designed to look aged, \"dirty,\" and worn, reflecting a time long past. The design plays on both nostalgia and the intriguing discomfort of the \"uncanny valley,\" adding depth to its appeal.
Outcome: An arresting logo that seizes the audience's attention, maintaining their interest with a mysterious allure. It offers only a fleeting glimpse into a different or parallel time, leaving them intrigued without revealing more. Contrast between what you see on the screen “the smile club” and the darker feeling you get while viewing it.")

I wanted to incorporate the aspect of “toughness” mentioned before so in true boxing fashion I gave the gorilla logo a scar and a black eye. I also took a colour that is often linked to femininity and that is not often seen as “tough,” but instead used it to represent the resilience of women in boxing.
Outcome: The logo doesn’t find a balance between femininity and toughness but instead insinuates that femininity can equal toughness.")

The pig’s head on the stake is symbolism used in Lord of the Flies, it is supposed to represent the embodiment of evil and the turning point between order and chaos. The idea that a good intention can easily turn evil. The donkey and the crow are characters from Animal Farm the crow acts as an enforcer of evil whereas the donkey is a bystander, both play a negative role in the story narrative. The two stories follow similar paths where good intention and order often leads to corruption and chaos. The quote used in this piece is a quote by Robert Burns. Though it was written many years before these books the quote is a relevant observation of both narratives.
Outcome: Though the visuals of this piece are grabbing, the narrative reference and meaning behind it are more prominent if you are familiar with the novels being referenced.")

Outcome: Depiction of a hand feeding a fishbowl garbage while a dead whale floats to the surface. This shows our hand (literally) in ocean pollution and how it's our responsibility to keep the oceans clean. Responsibility is represented through the use of a fish bowl as it insinuates that we are \"taking care\" of marine life but at the same time feeding it garbage, causing its environment to become toxic and harmful. The dead whale represents our negative effect on marine life.")
