ijdb needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 16 designs submitted by 7 freelance designers.
http://www.ijdb.co.uk is a new online jobs database. It stands for "Internet Jobs DataBase" and we are hoping that it will take off nationally and locally. We have been working on the backend, and now require a front end to start integrating.
Follow on work may include:
leaflets, additional logos, special banners, splash page, additional branding
Internet Jobs Database - http://www.ijdb.co.uk
IJDB.co.uk is a new online-only recruitment company with high ambitions. Based highly on the web, ijdb will initially target I.T. jobs (inlcuding development, specific technologies, consultancy, business analysts etc).
99designs.com has had some quality designs in the past, and hopefully someone will deliver the goods for us!
Additional follow on work should be available in the coming months depending on site takeoff. Think of this as a mini job interview, perhaps? :) We'll see..!
The winner should be able to provide the final design as a fully layed PSD. Other formats may be accepted, but please check with me first as I do not own all of the graphics packages out there... only Photoshop
I will give feedback to as many competitors as possible, and I will be very active during the entire contest running time.
DESIGNS I LIKE
New Sites:
http://intype.info/home/index.php - colours, sharpness
http://www.bigfilebox.com/ - crisp icons, logo, web 2.0 reflection on the icons
http://www.intabill.com/ - special mention, the background swirl that goes off the content. Fonts, Cleanness - yet a lot of information.
http://www.savana.cz/ - top banner (e.g. the way the monitor seems to be outside of the rest of the banner border).
http://maczone.sk/uvod - little bit busy, but very good for content management
http://uk.yahoo.com/ - quality.
Site 1 - structure. logo. Overall look. NOTE: Market research has suggested that the page should have lighter colours than the design here. The market is 16-60 year olds
Site 2 - Crisp, Easy to Use, Clear information
SIMILAR SITE
Site 1 - similar site on the surface, although ijdb.co.uk will offer additional functionality for both recruiters and seekers.
To help designers I have created a full wireframe of the design
http://www.ijdb.co.uk/wireframe_main.jpg
NOTE: The wireframe is not a conclusive design. If you have stylistic changes (overlapping layers for buttons and quote.. or whatever) then I encourage that you include them in your designs.
We are very excited about this new business venture.
- Clean, crisp, modern and uncluttered design with rooms for ads (premium and googleads)
- Must fit 1024x768 with no horizontal sliding. Vertical sliding is not only okay, but required!
- Must be able to scale for large amounts of content (e.g. search results or large forms)
- Simple logo at the top. I might create a seperate logo at some point - but at the moment, a simple text logo should be okay! Feel free to leave a blank space for a logo on your designs.
- Login box (with remember password)
- Quick search box!
This may grow over time. Hopefully there is not muuuchh to go wrong due to the site examples, wireframe, and details above.
