Games & Recreational
This is a blog about bugs. We will incorporate creative ideas, activities and products for kids and families interested in exploring about and learning about bugs. We will discuss different products, ideas, crafts, books, baking ideas all bug related.
soap.com- I like the colorful header/logo. I want the blog to look colorful! aspca.org- I like the cute animals on the top right hand corner (it would be bugs instead of cats and dogs of course) zutano.com- LOVE LOVE the style of the print called butterfly. It is a picture of a snail with leaves an butterflies. I like this artsy style. This type of style would be my first choice. http://zutano.com/printfamily/butterfly This website has a nice style heading with the two birds sitting on the title. http://www.rosenberryrooms.com/canvas-reproductions-for-kids.html http://babyccinokids.com/shop/ I like the clean look of this website. ppcassociates.com/blog: I like the blue frame on the left and right sides and on the header. I like that this helps make the site look like more than just a cookie-cutter blog.
General Concept: Like all great blogs, the site should, well, not look like a cookie-cutter blog. This should look like an awesome stand-alone content Web site. It just happens to be built on WordPress. Think of this site as *the* destination for all things bugs. Imagine that you are a parent and you want to go to fun web site and share bug-related information with your children - what would you want the site to look like? Imagine that you wanted to get great ideas for bug-related gifts - what sort of site would give you confidence that you are dealing with the true experts on bugs and that your kids will love the products? Required Communication Elements: The goal of the site is to build a community of people passionate about bugs. This will likely be a combination of parents and kids. As such, from a marketing perspective, I want to develop ways to communicate with the community. Communication elements should include: * A prominent "sign up for weekly email" capture form. This needs to be built with a Wordpress widget that allows for email capture and CAN-SPAM compliance. This can probably be prominently shown in the header, as seen on this site: www.ppchero.com * A prominent RSS feed logo and working link * All posts should have social sharing links - Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, etc. * Comments should be powered through Facebook Connect Other Elements: * On the right rail, 4 125X125 boxes for advertising * Blogroll on right rail * Twitter feed on right rail * Contact us and About Us info on the right rail
Target audience is parents of children ages 0-15, most likely more women than men but it should also appeal to kids since the blog is geared to meet their needs. I would like the site to be colorful but would like to avoid pastels. It should be cute but more artsy, easy to navigate and visually appealling. I am NOT looking for cartoonish looking graphics. \ I need the blog to be user friendly (for me as the writer. I need the template to be easy to use). Winner designer may be contacted for additional work in the future.
