Ambrosia Imports; http://www.ambrosiaimports.com
I am a neophyte sole proprietor, venturing into the world of importing and selling quality wine. What I bring is a fresh passion for something that I have long loved. Nothing is more fun than finding a "gem" and the experience of sharing it with a friend---and that is what I plan to do on a larger, commercial scale.
The primary purpose of this website is to sell the wines I have purchased from around the world.
The website's audience is primarily "The Right Customer"; that is, a knowledgable, wine-loving individual, with sufficient, disposable income (willing and able to shell out 30-60 dollars for a bottle of wine), 21 and older, women as much as men.
The audience is also the Wine Buyers of restaurants and perhaps wine shop owners looking for interesting boutique wines to sell.
I will be importing wine, first from the Tokaj region of Hungary, and selling it on a retail basis to customers via the internet, and also on a wholesale basis to restaurants and possibly wine shops.
I am based in California and the majority of customers will be here, but I will also sell the wine to customers in other states where it is legal to do so.
There is obviously a very large existing market of wine products and customers; however, I plan to focus more on dessert or "sweet" wines, an often over-looked area of the wine market in the United States.
Secondarily, the audience may also be small vintners anywhere on earth looking for an importer to bring their wines into California.
Appeals to the eye.
Easy to navigate and use.
Simple, very accessible on-line purchasing
Authentic, sincere feel. Trustworthy.
Equally appealing to women as to men.
Sophisticated in style but not pretentious or snobby.
A user friendly blog for me.
Generic images of grapes, wine, or vineyards, or people enjoying wine are fine as long as they are sharp and add something significant to the feel of the website. In this regard the name of the company, Ambrosia Imports, and the classical meaning in Antiquity of the word Ambrosia--- "food or drink of the gods" or "nectar" could be tied in somehow.
There is no storefront or hours. Wines are purchased on-line and shipped or otherwise delivered.
The wines I am selling will typically have a brief characterization and/or review from a wine critic.
My wines can be tasted at wine tastings, wine dinners, or by appointment.
