Daniel.responsedriven got their new web page design by running a design contest:
website design for Sign Company
Check out Daniel.responsedriven's Web page design contest…
The website is intended to showcase our sign-writing business. It needs to be able to give focus to our images (our is a very visual product), as well as our main sales message. I have attached a detailed design brief, please read through it and let me know if you have any questions. As this is a new account, 99 Designs won't let me Guarantee this content, but I can confirm that I AM GOING TO AWARD A WINNER and have done so plenty of times under my old account/business. This company is also going to be offering websites to their 6000 odd customers (many of which are already regularly asking about websites). As those of you that have won or been finalists know, it's always easier to work with designers one is familiar with (and vice versa). This has been true for contests I've run in the past under my marketing company and I'm sure will hold true with this venture. Make sure you read the comments for any updates and refinements to the brief, as I won't be posting them all here as well.
This brief is also included as a word document as part of the uploaded files below. Design Brief for Website: New design for Signs business. Please use attached logo as a guide in terms of colour and layout. The vertical images sliced together on http://www.dzignfx.com.au is something we like, we have two extra categories that need to be included (compared to dzignfx.com.au), with images attached to the brief to be used. Feel free to go wider than dzignfx.com.au if you want. Something else we like is prismatic fonts or chamfered edges and prismatic effects in general (eg buttons, menu items etc). This isn’t required and only use if you think it will fit in with your design. We have a slight preference for a dark background on light, but again, we will go with whatever looks the best, so if you think a light background with dark text will work better, then go for it. Our logo needs to feature prominently (attached to brief). There is a mock-up at http://cs1.advertising-specialists.com that shows the transition we want to use for a front page slideshow. If we do go for the vertical images slices together, will be be transitioning them like this. We also need toe following contact information on the site somewhere prominent, where is up to you, but having the logo up the top on one size and the contact info on the other side is one idea we had that could work: 1-3/28 Ipswich Street Fyshwick, 2609 ACT AUSTRALIA PH: (02) 6280 0101 FX: (02) 6280 0102 firstname.lastname@example.org We need the menu to be expandable, so please use fonts that can be rendered as text (not images, ie nothing too exotic). We also need the drop down menu box designed too, images with the required menu items are included with this brief. Whether you have the menu bar keep going after the items end, or have it only go as far as the last item (contact us) is up to you and again up to what looks best. There does need to be room on the horizontal plane the logo is on to expand it by an item or two, but that space doesn’t have to be all in one spot. ** Just to clarify regarding the menu. The example images I have attached are just there to show what menu items are needing to be included to start with and that there needs to be a matching drop down. You can use them if you like, but I would prefer to see your own concepts for the menu ** Please find attached: The images to use for the image slice (slideshow area). Please stick to using these as we want to have an equal comparison across the board with the same images. I understand some of these images aren’t ideal for vertical cropping, we’re aware of this, do don’t spend too long trying to get the crop perfect. Image of menu items Image of menu items with ‘Signs’ items expanded – need the expanded/drop down menu box designed. Logo I give detailed and frequent feedback. The winner is likely to be someone that understands and responds to this feedback. If you are unsure of any communication from me, or anything in this brief, don’t hesitate to ask. As I mentioned, we are looking to run a lot more of these competitions very soon and would prefer to work and invite designers we know can produce great work.
