We are seeking a redesign of our current site. The overall goals for the design are to maintain the flavor of a newspaper, something similar to The Daily Racing Form, since we believe the stock markets are something akin to a horse race. This is the metaphor we're currently using and the new design should be suggestive of that.
We're looking to take better advantage of the space on the page. Here are some of the major design goals:
1) A clean, crisp, professional design.
2) A design that makes better use of the above-the-fold space than what we now have at RickAckerman.com. The header should be shorter than the current site. It should probably also do away with the tabs in favor of straight links in the header. (See the attached mockup for a proposed example.)
3) A design that is two-column (55/45 split)
You will be redesigning our home page. This page is where we present all the day's content in newspaper-like fashion. There are two sections. The left section contains all the subscriber content and has several sub-sections (Rick's Picks, Today's Action, Intraday Trading Alert, and Making Cramer Pay). The right section contains free content; it, too, has several free sections. (Commentary, which is at the very top, Side Bets, Morning Briefing, and This Just In.)
