Efficiency First is an association for contractors who are interested in making homes more energy efficient.
The target audience are contractors coming to the site and trying to decide if they should join or not.
We want a better way to organize this page. The site template (nav/header/footer/colors) can't really change, so you'll need to come up with a design that works within it. Although within the body of the page feel free to be as creative as you want.
The current simply alphabetical list of members ( http://www.efficiencyfirst.org/member/ ) is fairly lame. There should be a way to visualize the breadth of membership, and then drill down to see the specific groupings.
There should be something that shows off the geographic mix of our members. Perhaps a map mashup? Lots of open questions here, how do you show many contractors that are close together? etc.
There should also be better partner logo highlighting and layout. The current couple of logos fading in and out is ok but far from great.
The dynamic nature of the progression from the top level (map or otherwise) to a smaller grouping (per state or per category) should be pretty clear in the design - if you have to submit a collage image, that can help if its not obvious from a single one.
Members are signing up all the time and the map should remain up to date, so that's something to consider as a technical constraint when thinking about how this might actually be implemented. To clarify, this contest is just for the visual design!
There's some very non-trivial follow on work that may arise if we like your submission.
