How Ken T started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
AlabamaEvangelization.com is an outreach of the Bible Christian
Society to promote the Catholic faith in Alabama (statistically, the
most Protestant state in the USA). Currently, activities revolve
around quarterly luncheons in Birmingham and Huntsville with guest
speakers discussing topics of interest to Catholics and Protestants
alike. Future projects are still in the planning phase.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
We want the site to have more of a generic Christian feel than a specifically Catholic feel (cross instead of crucifix, no statues or rosaries etc. as these may be offensive to non-Catholics). We're thinking of something with fairly rich color, maybe deep red or burgundy with gold ... like a leather-bound Bible. Otherwise, we're pretty ... um, uninspired... as to how the site might look.
In general, we're looking for something with a fairly clean, simple visual style. I want something that a technoid would go, "Cool," over, and a non-technoid would go, "That was easy enough..."
Homepage: Show upcoming luncheons with clear indication of location (Birmingham or Huntsville), a name and picture of the featured speaker, and a prominent "reserve your spot" button that links to PayPal for checkout.
Generic Inner Page: Something simple that fits the same theme that we could use for a newsletter, an "About Us" paragraph, etc.
What to avoid
I don't think clouds and doves will go over very well. This needs to be obviously Christian, not "generic spiritual".
