How mjaviss started their print or packaging design journey
I am the President and founder of FrightCatalog.com. We offer a huge selection of spooky Halloween decorations and costumes to customers across the USA. We have been operating since 2002. We have created about 10 catalogs over the years. They are typically dark and spooky although we do carry some lighter kids costumes and accessories. We supply homeowners with everything they need to celebrate Halloween in spooky style. From graveyards to zombies and Alice in Wonderland costumes we carry a huge selection of products to fright and delight.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We have an existing customer base of Halloween fanatics that look forward to receiving our catalog every year. They are mostly Halloween fans that like to dress up or throw their own spooky party. Many of them transform their home into a haunted house for Halloween. The customers are very interested in the spookier side of Halloween.
We are looking for a catalog spread. This is just a design of two interior pages. We will contract the winner to do the rest of the catalog. We are looking for an easy to read design that uses space economically. Contact information on every page. Large product pictures. Typically 6 to 8 per page. Catalog will be 8.5" x 11". Looking for a design that uses InDesign or something similar. Product images will be supplied. Copy will be limited. This is more of a picture book than a typical catalog with heavy descriptions.
Please check out our website http://www.frightcatalog.com for reference.
See the attached files for an example of an old catalog spread. It's a good example of what not to do. Pictures are too small, background makes copy blurry, bad fonts, bad picture placement.
Just grab some items off the website for placement in your spread. They do not have to be hi resolution for the parameters of the contest.
