DustinWonnell got their new other packaging or label by running a design contest:
Help Launch and Design **PhotoBOMB's** new Selfie Stick Packaging!!!!
Check out DustinWonnell's Other packaging or label contest…
We envision PhotoBOMB as a kind of GoPro brand for cell phones. Our flagship product is the "BOOMstick", a selfie stick self portrait monopod for photos and video from your phone. It uses bluetooth and has an extendable boom which holds your phone, and you use the control on the handle to take photo and video. Our target audience is tech savvy, active in social media, owns a cell phone, teenagers to young professionals, but also appeals to anyone else who wants to take a picture and not be left out. (parents to use on vacations, etc). We are planning to expand to other cell phone accessories such as indestructible phone cases and specialized phone camera lenses to be used with the BOOMstick.
What's your vision?
We need to design the overall graphics for the cardboard package for the BOOMstick, for which we have a template. The graphics will be printed on flat glossy cardboard and folded by the manufacturer. The overall graphic will be comprised of different panels, one for each face of the finished package. We may want to play with flowing the front panel design over to the side panels (for example see picture for "wireless mobile phone monopod"). On the back panel, there will need to be two separate shaped sections, one to contain the product description, and one for instructions and specs. We will provide the text for the description and instruction sections later. The package needs to include the PhotoBOMB brand logo as the main logo, and also the BOOMstick product logo beneath it, or somewhere else on the box. We need to design both logos. For the PhotoBOMB brand logo, we want the last "O" in PhotoBOMB to be a bomb shape with a fuse, with a mischievous face with sunglasses on (see pics of bomb and sun face for an idea: we want to put something similar the sun's face on the bomb shape). The rest of the text in PhotoBOMB should be cool, techy, and sharp. The logo should include at least 2 colors (for matching with the product colors). We also need a design for the product logo "BOOMstick" included on box. This should be similar to and/or flow with the PhotoBOMB logo. As far as the color scheme and theme go, we want to focus on encompassing fun, humor, spontaneity, mischief, silliness, etc... These are the feelings we want our brand to represent. Feel free to play with the colors and overall theme and be creative. Finally, we need to include an actual portrait of people using the BOOMstick, with the handle being visible and held by one of them. We had an idea of a group of different people in this portrait smiling, posing, maybe doing different activities. It would be ideal if the portrait was silly and humorous. The portrait can be on the front or the back. Feel free to play with these ideas and be creative.
We have attached a template from one of our competitors, as well as some stock photos to give you some ideas. There are some formalities we need to include, like a bluetooth logo, iPhone and Android compatibility logos, instructions, etc (look at the stock photos and templates).

He did a great job communicating and worked extremely hard to get the job done. The designs were clean, eye catching and professional. I would definitely use him again!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
