This is a bit of an unusual project. It should be an easy project for an Adobe Illustrator pro, IF you know the appropriate techniques.
The goal of the project is to develop a method to achieve results in Adobe Illustrator that we have only been able to achieve using Photoshop. The requirement to manipulate images in Photoshop has made the project prohibitively expensive. Any change to color, proportion, size, etc. requires extensive re-work in Photoshop in order to re-create "punched out" areas after making changes to the design in Illustrator.
This is part of an iPhone application that displays the face of a mechanical instrument which has a metal face-plate, with several beveled "punchouts" in the face. Other images will be placed "behind" the punchouts in the app. The "gps" indicator will have a color wheel (supplied) behind it.
I'm supplying "finished results" as PNG files with alpha channel. You need to supply an Adobe Illustrator file (you can use CS3, 4, or 5) that can achieve similar-looking results without the use of Photoshop.
(Steampunk refers to imagining what common bits of modern technology might have looked like in the "steam era" of the late 1800's, had they been invented by then. In this particular case, "Steampunk" is a bit of a misnomer, as the era in question is the 1920's through 1950's.)
