Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of women, children, and families in rural Uganda using an approach we call deep development which means empowering communities, village by village, to create their own long-term solutions to healthcare, education, and microenterprise.
we focus on one local area, or cluster of villages, at a time and address critical issues simultaneously: disease, poor nutrition, inadequate education, unsafe drinking water, poor infrastructure, and lack of economic development. Our purpose is to empower communities by providing the infrastructure, support, and education that will enable sustainable, community-driven development. We do this by embedding ourselves in the community and fostering alliances with local change agents, creating connections between our donors and the families they impact, and always maintaining low overhead in order to make the greatest impact.
We've already achieved massive results, including the development of a hospital and 12 outlying clinics that serve over 600,000 people in 48 villages, building schools, and providing microenterprise education to help at-risk mothers become self-sustaining (saving tens of thousands of children's lives each year by reducing the death rate of their mothers).
