omar 2 got their new app design by running a design contest:
Photo Sharing App - Long Term Project
Check out omar 2's App design contest…
The app is a social platform where users take photos and these photos are organized into stories. Each story is a day in their life; Sunday 22-Nov Story, Monday 23-Nov Story, Tuesday 24-Nov Story, ... With each photo the user takes, they add an audio description, no text description in this app, only audio, and hashtags are allowed.
This app needs to be simple, since the focus will be on photos. I like the design of AirBnB app which makes use of the space in screen through wide photos.
PhotosTalk - Long Term Project
* A wireframe is attached to outline the flow of all screens. DO NOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED, TAKE RISKS, USE YOUR IMAGINATION, add your own touch :-) ** Please check the last set of paragraphs about the camera screen, very important. The user enters the app, the home screen is the timeline showing all stories of friends the user is following. A story is a collection photos TAKEN IN A SINGLE DAY, this means if someone takes two photos today, three tomorrow, then today's story is made up of two photos, and tomorrow's story will be made up of three photos. In the timeline the story displayed is showing only the latest photo with a title over it in an overlay manner (similar to when you open AirBnB app and view the names of cities on Android version). If you tap on a story it opens the story screen, in the story screen, there are the photos inside this story, photos do not have a description text, only hashtags, a play icon to listen to the audio message recorded by the person who took the photo, and an overlay label, which says "LIVE" in case the photo uploaded from camera, and the label will not be shown if the photo was uploaded from the user phone gallery. When the user tap to open a photo in a story, they are redirected to the photo screen, where they can interact with the photo by listening to the audio added to it, like the photo, share it on social media, and even add a VOICE comment (no text comments in this app). The user can also listen to comments added by others. In the top bar there are 5 elements: 1- Menu 2- Timeline 3- ME (My Profile with my Stories) 4- Explore & Search 5- Camera (Take a photo) The explore & Search screen when opened from top bar it shows the trending stories, exactly similar to how the timeline screen looks like, with an addition of a title bar between the top nav bar and the first story which says "Trending Stories" and next to that label is a a search (magnifier glass) icon. When the search icon is clicked two tabs appear, to offer the users the ability to search for people by their username or (the other tab), search for photos by hashtag. And both tabs show photos as search results not stories. If a user taps on a username, they are taken to the user profile screen, which contains all their stories listed similar to the timeline screen, with having on top the user photo and a minimal description about them (similar to instagram user profile header), tapping inside on stories, follows the same flow mentioned above. LAST BUT NOT LEAST the most important screen (from functionality perspective), the Camera screen. This is no ordinary camera screen, the user has two options, upload a photo from phone gallery/library or take a LIVE photo. When taking a live photo, the user can take multiple photos, then they have the option to choose the best photo, or take more photos until they are satisfied. Once they are satisfied with a photo, they move to next step, which is applying filters on photo, we want the filters to applied using swipe left and right instead of showing thumbs, similar to how you can apply a filter to snapchat photos. Once done, the user can add hashtags and an audio description of the photo. We are talking about a total of 7 to 9 screens, but there are similarities between the screens, this is a long term project, and we do not mind taking the project to a 1-to-1 on the next step. For now the most important screens are: 1- Camera, 2- Photo Filters, finish and publish. 3- Timeline 4- Story 5- Photo Screen
