Ku Karimian got their new app design by running a design contest:
A photo sharing app, with focused exploration
Check out Ku Karimian's App design contest…
A photo sharing app, much like instagram with slight differences that allow for a customizable photo exploring experience.
Geometric, Flat, skeuominimalism is okay, but flat design with some shadows is preferred. The use of blur and or translucency in certain areas (ex: Tabbar) is also desired. A good example of these styles can be found in the slides from the winning design of "Droply": http://99designs.ca/contests-fullscreen/401092/entries/39250901 As for colors, we provided a folder labeled "Noq Colors" of images that display a selection of colors to possibly be used. Not all colors need to be used. Even just the use of 1, 2 or 3 with its varying tones could be enough. We would like to leave it to your creativity to best use any of the provided colors. The overall feel of the app should be happy and fun without being bubbly and immature.
All 5 screens have mock-up images that can be followed in order to understand structure, tabs, buttons, layout etc. We want you to create your own version of the pictures provided. In order for us to retain all desired functionality, we ask that you retain all visible information, tabs, and buttons on screen, but display them in your own unique ways. Screen 1 A standard Registration page, in need of background imagery, a logo, a "noq" signature, and 2 tabs "Log in" and "Sign up" with username, password, and log in with facebook fields. Logo should be simple, clean. Examples of logos we liked: Twitter, Facebook, Google Hangouts, Apple, Pinterest. (see uploaded images 'Screen 1' for example of Registration Page) Screen 2 This screen is an "Add Details/Caption" page. Just like with instagram, after the picture has been taken, the user is brought to this page where they can input a caption for the photo they are uploading as well as tagging friends and other options. Your screen submission should retain all the same fields as are found in the example picture we uploaded for screen 2. (see uploaded images 'Screen 2' for example or download instagram app and upload a picture, and you will be brought to that same page) Screen 3 Profile Page. Again just like instagram's "Profile Page", but with subtle option differences. Feel free to make your own version of this page while retaining the info on screen. (see uploaded images 'Screen 3' for example) Screen 4 Explore page. Our Explore page is our most important page as it is the crux of the app itself. This page allows the user to choose between 2 Tabs "Trending" and "Filters". If "Trending" is chosen it displays trending pictures. If "Filters" is chosen, then 3 extra fields emerge from beneath the 2 tabs. These 3 fields are "Noq", "Country" and "Mood". The user can then set specifications to all 3 of these fields for a more focused Exploring experience. The uploaded image we provided titled Screen 4 is when user has chosen "Filters" tab, and is now customizing the "Noq" number. Each "Noq" number simply represents a set of related pictures on a certain date that the user can browse through. (see uploaded images 'Screen 4' for example) Screen 5 My Mood Tracker. Is an extra added feature that allows the user to track his or her moods over time. The trackable moods are only 6, the same 6 moods depicted in Screen 2. The user will be able to chose from date x to date y, to see the progression of his moods during that period in a plotted graph as well as being able to see the totals of his moods during that time period in a pie chart. (see uploaded images 'Screen 5' for example)
