Robbor911 got their new app design by running a design contest:
App Store Screenshots for GifShare HD - A Gif Editor
Check out Robbor911's App design contest…
GifShare HD makes your GIFs worthy of Instagram. GifShare is the best all-in-one GIF editor on the App Store: find or use any GIF you want, make it your own with great features like speed control, trimming, crop, filters and many more, then save it as video for Instagram, or as a GIF for sites like Tumblr and Facebook.
I'm looking for 5 screenshots to be displayed for the App Store front. The in app design is already done. I've attached the app icon, some screenshots of the app, and a mindmap that give direction for the design. The colors are expressed in the app icon, and the mindmap will help you make brand and stylistic design decisions. A few notes: Pretty ladies used in the screenshots sell as long as they are used in the right context. GIFs are animated so if you do use stock photos, etc, try to make sure they appear "in motion". The screenshots I attached probably shouldn't be used with the images they have in them since some are a bit pixelated. I recommend you use the app yourself! Just me know your email and I can add you to beta testing, if you have an iPhone and its available in your country.
The work flow: Upon opening the app you must select a GIF to edit. This can be done by accessing the user's camera roll, selecting a Trending Gif, searching for a GIF on the web, or creating a new GIF from the camera. Once selected, the user can choose a crop setting and adjust the GIF to fit within the crop how they'd like. The user can also choose to save the original GIF from this screen (in case they don't want to edit it). Next they can select any option from the menu: Trim, Speed adjustment, Background color, Music, adding Text, Filters, or adjustments (Like blur, contrast, exposure, etc). Then they can save it as Gif or video and share it to their favorite social networks (instagram being the most popular to share to by far). I want people using it to know two things from the screenshots: it's the best all-on-one Gif app on the App Store (it's a gif finder, gif downloader, gif saver, gif editor, converts gifs to videos, etc), and that GifShare HD can help bring a GIF to the next level. "Make your GIFs Instagram worthy" is something you could use or if you have something better go for it.
What to avoid
The only thing I can think of that I probably already expressed it to stay away from making it feel too cliche, or "just another gif app" feel but without drifting too far away from the familiar.
