I'm 34 and live in LA. I do voiceovers for radio and tv commercials as well as television promos and movie trailers. I am also the co-author of The Dudes' Guide to Pregnancy (the cover of which is horrible, btw). I also contribute to the blog howtonotbefat.com
Logo will be used as primary artwork for website, my main marketing tool. Also on business cards, etc. It would look right at home on a ballcap or bottle of beer. It will be permanently attached to my name or will become my name... like Prince. Or not.
My business is my name, bill lloyd (usually lower case for no good reason). The winning logo will represent me both personally and professionally. I would like to incorporate an icon, but am open to designs without. It will likely be an ironic Fortune 500 design of sorts.
IMPORTANT: The winning logo will have no trace of a microphone or a mouth in it. In fact, if you thought about putting a microphone in it, maybe you shouldn't enter. It's about the attitude not the job.
note: I also use billfnlloyd.com (as in "Bill Effing Lloyd"), but find people tend to say "Bill Floyd" when they see it. I am open to incorporating the "f'n" if it can be done successfully. The four "L"s in a row have also proven to be a challenge.
Some descriptive terms:
Personal- sarcastic, loud, witty, rock 'n roll, fun, creative, not lame, competitive, awesome, laid back, jeans, t-shirt, vans, athletic
Professional- slick, broad, on-time, professional, fun, premium, expensive, classy, elite, worth it
I realize the disparity between the two, but such is my work. I am a regular voice promoting heavy CBS dramas, but am also a regular doing silly skits on Jimmy Kimmel Live (http://www.youtube.com/user/JimmyKi…xkpucULJPo).
You can find my voice samples on voexpress.com.
Some logo ideas I never quite hashed out fully include a 70's era rock band type design (Boston?), and/or my logo on a t-shirt, which itself would be the logo. These are a couple ideas. Maybe they're stupid. I don't know.
Now please go kick ass and make me an awesome logo.
