It is important to note that SBA.com is in no way affiliated with SBA.gov or any federal agency, and therefore, should aim to deviate as drastically as possible from the colors and overall aesthetic of SBA.gov to avoid confusion. Consider such approaches as utilizing lower-cased typeface, with all 6 letters of similar/identical height, rather than staggered in the manner of SBA.gov.
TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC: budding entrepreneurs, young and old, looking for an authoritative resource for their new businesses
GENERAL AESTHETIC: Clean, corporate, authoritative, yet modern, leaning toward streamlined rather than overly complex; preferably with icon
COLORS: 2 of the following: green, yellow/gold, red, grey; NO blue
POSSIBLE THEMES: growth, innovation, ingenuity
TYPEFACE: Bold, lowercased
We remain open to both hard-edge and straight line visuals, as well as slightly curvier designs for the logo elements. The icon, if one is applied, can be loosely abstract, in that it does not need to specifically make an explicit statement. We look forward to designers who stretch the limits of, while channelling their creative energies to yield varied potential symbolic representations of the themes of inception, growth and innovation.
