Non-Partisan Group Needs Modern Update to Logo
Check out kristofferw's Logo design contest…
Taxpayers for Common Sense is a DC-based government watchdog group (non-profit) that serves as an independent voice for American taxpayers. Our mission is to ensure that the federal government spends taxpayer dollars responsibly and operates within its means. We read, research, and analyze Congressional legislation and rules. We produce research that we hold to journalistic/think tank standards. Throughout our 22-year-history we have consistently worked with policymakers and non-profits from all points on the political spectrum. We mostly cover Congress (but sometimes federal agencies and the White House). We're often described as fiscally conservative, but we're an overtly non-partisan organization that works with both Democrats and Republicans. I encourage you to look over our website to see some of the issues we cover: http://www.taxpayer.net/ (Note: We're currently in the process of a major website redesign that will modernize the look and feel of our website. Hence, disregard any branding guidelines in the current website.) Our target audience is politically engaged and concerned about wasteful government spending. Our current audience is equally split between Republicans and Democrats and tends to be older, white, and male. We are looking for a design that attracts a wider audience without alienating our current audience.
We've done some legwork and come up with a concept for designers to work off-of. See attached images. The concept is working off the idea that we follow the money (represented by the dollar bill symbol and the donut chart). We’re looking for a logo that’s serious, forthright, classy, has clean lines, neutral (but not boring) and something that isn’t overtly progressive. We strongly prefer the use of sans-serif fonts. See attached document that outlines the two concepts we want designers to go off on w/explanation within.
