I am a freelance writer/editor who will work with individuals and groups--including corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations--to succeed on projects where good writing and editing may make a difference. I am a retired English Professor and former Director of Writing at two universities, and my freelance work runs the gamut from grant writing to album liner notes. I also provide support in situations where strategic communications are critical, such as negotiations, public advocacy, and conflict resolution.
My primary audience is corporate managers, non-profit administrators, and government agencies who want high-level communications support. My secondary audience is authors and individuals who have special projects--a book, for example--who may need more support than simple copy editing. All my audiences have challenging projects that require a skillful writer and editor.
I would like a logo that is primarily, if not all, typographic, using the company name: "Wordvisor."
The logo will be used on all my correspondence, business cards, website, and blog identifications.
Colors are okay, but I would prefer a logo that also works in black-and-white or single color applications (though I would give this requirement up for a really cool logo).
Fonts should be clean and/or elegant.
I can also imagine the use of an illustrated initial letter, or something that plays with the W and V in the name, "WordVisor."
Visual feeling/impact can be modern, minimalist, playful or, alternatively, elegant and somewhat antiquated.
Imagery would be best if it is integrated into the word, but could involve a pen, editing mark, or other symbol that represents writing and/or editing.
I would not want something that feels cartoonish, childish, overly-wrought, complicated, industrial, or high-tech.
I've added some logos that I liked (see attached files below), but don't feel limited by these (an afternoon's search) if you have some different ideas.
