charles.shulman got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo wanted for environment website
Check out charles.shulman's Logo design contest…
UPDATE 2: When submitting, please include at least two versions of the logo in a single submission: one with the website name and a one with no text. Colour options and a grey-scale version would be appreciated but are not required. ---------------------------------------------- UPDATE 1: Hello all, thanks to everyone interested in submitting designs. In case it helps with your scheduling, we will review submissions and respond to questions from roughly 09:00-10:00 and 16:00-17:00 (EST/UTC-05:00). A few tips in addition to the brief below: 1) Have a look at the four examples of logos attached in a PDF. These integrate a lot of elements while being easy to read. 2) See below for some concepts we'd you to try to reflect. Note that elements in the design should be native to Canada, including Canadian plants, animals and representative landscapes (e.g. mountains, rivers, coasts, prairie, tundra). Include at least one pollinator species (e.g. bee, bat, butterfly, hummingbird). Use of maple leaves should be subtle. 3) Include some representation of human connection to nature (e.g. people, hands, trails, hiking, biking, canoeing, skiing, etc. etc. be creative!) 4) The logo should be graphical: the word "biodivcanada.ca" should stand apart from logo so we can use the logo without the word, for other purposes than the website. 5) The logo will be used in reports and documents prepared by a partnership of Canada's governments and other partners, so if you can find a way to represent "partnership" or "cooperation" between multiple organizations, this would be a large bonus (a handshake won't work since it represents only two organizations). ---------------------------------------------- The organization is a partnership of Canada’s federal, provincial and territorial governments focused on conservation of biological diversity, or put simply, nature conservation. The logo will be used to brand a new website and documentation including reports, presentations, meeting agendas. Target audience: Women and men, high school level education or higher, professional age, Canadian, employed or interested in nature conservation, including federal, provincial and territorial government elected officials, government staff (scientists and policy-makers), private and non-profit sector partners, Indigenous Canadians, students and academics, as well as non-Canadians interested in nature conservation in Canada and officials from the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity.
Other color requirements
The look and feel, colour scheme and layout of the new website where the logo will appear can be seen at the following demo site: https://demo.chm-cbd.net/ (content is for demo purposes only). The new logo will appear where the flag appears on the demo site. For reference, the actual content can be found at the partnership’s current website: www.biodivcanada.ca. The logo should use colours, but will need to look good when printed in grayscale since it will appear on the website as well as in the header or cover page of electronic and printed documents. If using greens, please use the greens used in the demo site linked above, but do not feel obliged to use or be limited to green. The green used for the menu is HEX #039749 / RGB (3, 151, 73). The darker green when hovering over a menu item is HEX #038842 / RGB (3, 136, 66).
