We do not currently have a logo identity so we are starting from scratch. However, we do want the new logo to integrate with our existing website (http://www.blackhawwealth.com) both in terms of style and color palette. (FWIW, the logo-esque image on the website was built by the website designer and does not serve our purposes.) We are willing to do some minor re-design work on the website nav bar and homepage of the website to accommodate a new logo, but that’s about it.
Our new logo should work well in both B&W and color and should scale well. In terms of style, we prefer contemporary over traditional. We prefer sans serif typeface over serif. We don’t have a strong feeling about shape, but it would be nice if the final logo (or a version of the final logo) would work well in a square for branding use on social media updates (LinkedIn, Google+ etc.). We’d like steer away from any obvious market images or metaphors (i.e no stock charts or dollar signs, etc). We prefer either something graphic with our initials or name, or some other symbol or artwork (either abstract or metaphorical). We'd also consider an emblem if it was just right. And while our name is taken from the name of a tree native to Texas, we’d like to steer away from tree imagery, as the financial advisor industry is saturated with tree logos. We prefer elegance and simple lines over complex images.
We want the logo strike a balance between communicating that we are serious and trustworthy investment professionals and embodying the vibrant and independent spirit of Austin, TX where we are based. We don’t want to look like a big bank or a global financial services firm, but we also don’t want to look like a cool local artisanal cheese shop. Austin is an entrepreneurial and rapidly growing city with a lot of both high tech and creative industries and many of our clients are professionals at the crossroads of those ventures. We’d love it if the logo could reflect this unique culture but still communicate attributes that potential clients look for – professional, dependable, credible, experienced.
We’ll be using the logo on the website, on our social media pages, business cards, and a few presentations, all of which will allow it to be presented in a “best quality” environment, but we’ll also be putting it all kinds of generic administrative items – fax cover sheets, etc – where it will just be printed on a small office business printer, or may be photo copied or faxed. So, we want the logo to be simple enough to hold up under those circumstances – i.e complex colors, heavy gradients, etc. probably aren’t the best.
Thank you for helping us to realize our vision and we look forward to seeing your submissions!
