How Davestaz started their logo design journey
Cheltenham Veterinary Clinic
We have just purchased a 30 year old established veterinary clinic in Melbourne, Australia. We see small animals (mostly dogs, cats, and rabbits). It has an old, outdated feel to it and the typical blue vet sign attached to the face of the building. No work has been put into defining its image, and lacks a formal logo. We are 2 men in our early 30's, energetic and enthusiastic about growing this clinic into a quality, caring, reputable business. We want to create an image that easily identifies us and sticks firmly in the minds of our pet owners.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The clinic is located in the inner suburbs of Melbourne and we see mostly young families and their pets. Also many young 30's couples who have pets instead of kids. We also deal with other veterinary businesses in retail and wholesale.
NO cartoon animals.
Logo should be abstract and simple. Modern, flowing and clean. Eye catching. We encourage originality.
Some ideas that could be incorporated into the logo but are not an absolute necessity are as follows:
---> An icon, or visual symbol--probably incorporating the text "Cheltenham Veterinary Clinic" but not necessarily in the symbol itself (i.e. below it)
---> an outline/shape of the three main small animals (dog, cat and rabbit) that are treated at the clinic
---> a human arm and hand /or an abstract version of a human arm/hand (a vets hand, perhaps with lab coat sleeve) outstretched towards/holding an animals leg/paw
---> a human hand/ or an abstract version of a human hand cupping/holding the images of a dog/cat/rabbit.
---> a human hand and an animals paw print (or several paw prints) revolving around each other
- May incorporate the word/phrases (but not an absolute necessity):
“for the human animal bond”
“nuturing the human animal bond”
May try a square logo such as the popular graphics currently used i.e. Mac graphics, Facebook etc.
Colour: blue is most commonly associated with vet clinics, but any colour combo to be considered. Try gray/charcoal with orange
Logo will also be used for letterhead, business cards, website. Should be able to use it full color or black and white. And be able to be shrunk down and maintain its clarity
