How Mike Onotsky started their logo design journey
We are a family run organization that gathers sponsorships for the children in East Africa (eventually branching out further) in order for them to gain an education. A significant number of youth in Africa do not attend school as they can't afford an annual tuition fee that is less than most of us make for a half day's work. We bring sponsors together with school projects in Africa (currently working in Uganda) to pay tuition, uniforms, and supplies and eventually we hope to build schools as well.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Target audience is initially individual donors though once we move into building schools, we will also be targetting corporate donors as well.
I envision either a globe with the outline of Africa in the forefront or simply an image of the African continent with arms reaching around from behind almost as if they are hugging the globe/continent (hence the name Embrace Africa). I want it to be bright and colorful...not quie cartoon-like but maybe with a little of that feel... a little "baloon-like".
I want to have "Embrace" in a font that is big and bulky...again, maybe just a touch cartoon-like. Underneath that, would be "Africa" in a different font. If we ever move outside Africa, I want to be able to change "Africa" with another region's name without changing the flavor of the logo much.
I would like to be able to have the text below the logo for use on some items as well as be able to use larger size of the same font to use on the right of the logo for letterhead, etc. If that won't work, underneath is the preference.
Just remember...a touch of comical but still business. Walk the line between the two...
