We are a bootstrap startup of four from the Boston area. We have two developers and two people on the business side of things working on a website designed to make finding meaningful video content on the web an easier and more familiar process.
In the future, we want browsr.tv to be the homepage of your living room with the ability to navigate your TV with your cell phone as the remote.
The logo must work well in a a black background since the website background is black.
The perfect logo would be simple. We are looking for something that will represent the site as both cutting edge/sleek but also comfortable to use.
Initially, we will be targeting a tech savvy audience with most of our videos in the educational realm. However, as all encompassing as it sounds, we intend on targeting everyone who searches for videos online (or uses Youtube). That includes the tech savvies as well as their grandmothers, wives, children, co-workers, and friends they watch football with. This puts an emphasis on ease of use and familiarity.
Browsing these channels, or "channel surfing" is one of the key components in this project. We want the user to feel as comfortable using the browsr interface as they are using their own television.
With video discovery/exploration as the key feature of the website, secondary features include the ability to save videos to a personal channel (similar to delicious but for video) and share videos/channels.
Our setup so far involves a main viewing area (resembling a TV screen), a remote to the left of the screen, a video list underneath, and a cable box-like section displaying a breadcrumb of selected channels.
When selecting a channel from the remote (say "education") the remote refreshes to display new channels that are related to education (e.g. science, global warming, business, etc.). Videos displayed also refresh. Users will be able to drill down into several levels of channels until meaningful content is found and consumed, saved, or shared.
Screenshot attached. This is still very much a work in progress and the buttons on the remote on the left can be any color.
The main colors of the website are black and silver/shades of grey. We would like an accent color but have not settled on one yet so please feel free to experiment.
Looking for simple, sleek and comfortable.
Please do not use any stock images or clip art in the logo.
