Ten Paces (or TenPaces) or tenpaces or Tenpaces but not 10paces
We have started a new technology holding/investment/venture capital company – unlike most organisations we don’t know what the exact line of business that we will end up in, except that it will most likely be in telecommunications, internet, software development, biotech, green tech – i.e something tech based.
So what we are after is a logo that could be used in many industries, but probably will not be seen as a retail brand or dealing direct with consumers.
Any product or service we will offer or invest in will get or have its own brand, company name and logo that will be specific to the business that it is involved in.
We have run our own significant internet business for many years and have recently sold it, so need a new identity to exploit our ideas or invest in some young cool and interesting people that have great ideas – we need something that will inspire!
Potential Investee Companys, Partners, Investors or potential employees to join a startup business etc
We are not a bunch of nasty VC type people, but a group of people that want to invest and have a partnership with the companies that we want to work with.
As an alterative to investing we may use this company to incubate our own ideas and as such it needs to fit programmers, engineers, network types, partners or other people that we want to hire directly.
The culture that we are trying to grasp is one where ideas and discussion is open, friendly, however we work hard and we play hard. For instance we don’t have many offices in our company, we all sit in open plan office space, we have beer and pizza each Friday. We don't wear suits unless we have to, and even then without ties.
The culture at Ten Paces is cool, friendly, and provides a space where someone’s creative juices can flow, but also we are here to make a statement, grow a business, have some fun along the way and as well reap the rewards.
We need our logo to lead from the front – its what most people will see before anything else.
We are after a friendly, interesting, bold, clear, ideally Web 2.0 type logo.
However it could (but not necessarily) still have a solid background with a white (or other colour) logo reversed out of it
We like strong, but interesting colours – strong purples, strong greens, red, burnt orange even are just a few examples. (but not an exhaustive list at all – just what have come to mind)
We like strong logo’s – we don't want one that when you put then on a page of other logos it is so light that they blend into the background or can’t be recognized.
We don’t mind if the illustration is before, above, in or after the words in the logo, however we don’t want the logo to be so big that it dwarfs the name of the company.
We don’t have a strap or tag line at this stage and its not necessary to provide for one.
2 or 3 or 4 colours are preferred, less is more likely to be more.
We like simple and straightforward logos – nothing with large amounts of shading, rendering, grading of colours etc.
TenPaces can be tenpaces (where paces is light or bold in contrast to the ten). It needs to be the word ten rather than the number 10.
Please keep away from shoes, people walking or anything like that – if that inspires you then that’s ok.
When we have selected a winning design we will also want to use this as the basis for stationary, and a straightforward website.
As suggested by 99 designs, we ask for the art in a vector format like that produced by Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. We also need to know what font has been used - and where to buy it if its not free or commonly available.
