The look and feel of our logo and color scheme is being driven by our investor base. We deal mostly with east coast, "established" high net worth individuals and will be investing their money in more traditional lines of manufacturing, not tech. While our investor base can be defined as "old money" they are the younger genuration and are active in sports like sailing, golf, tennis, skiing, polo, etc. This may sound like it is out of a novel but that is our base, they live in large cities, CT and summer in the Hamptons or the Cape
The name of the group is White Stable Ventures or internally we call it WSV. Our logo should not only incorporate our name but convey a sense of power, old world wealth. It is hard to put some of the nuances of the feel in writing but it should be wealth, power, understated, NY law firm or the best movie I can think of is the remake of the Thomas Crown affair.
The color pallet should be subtle and on the darker side of the spectrum with out being too dark. The best way to describe the colors would be the traditional paint pallet from Ralph Lauren. Slates work well. The final color should be WEB SAFE and not require special mixing this leads to too many issues in duplicating the logo on materials, etc.
We have thought about using just our initials, the name or integrating a horse. While we have talked to a number of creative groups we have decided to not use a large house since that would be overkill and we have not found a boutique who we feel comfortable with so a colleague mentioned Sitepoint. We want to try this approach to see if we could find the right execution of the logo ideas we have considered such as the ones mentioned above or some new idea.
Please remember eventually the logo will be used on promotional materials so the logo needs to be attractive and convey the message in Black and White as well as Color (Web Safe). The logo should also be used in Large and Small formats such as on a folder and business cards.
We look forward to your submissions.
There was a minor omission in our original posting. The posting should have included a business card and letter head layout to go with the logo. We are sorry for the omission, this is our first contest.Â
