The logo will form as part of the overall branding of a new Risk Management system we are introducing, called Scout. It will take pride of place as a identifier for the system, as well as be incorporated into all communications, intranet updates, training etc. for the system. The idea behind the name Scout is that it encapsulates many things about risk, and the risk culture here at Mercer. Scout is about being proactive and planning ahead. It also represents how boy/girl scouts work together, bringing elements of teamwork to achieve a goal. See link of what a Boy/Girl Scout is (it is also the little boy from the Pixer movie, 'UP!' who earns badges for doing good deeds)

We like the idea of a animal that has good intuition as is typical of girl/boy Scouts, but is also approachable (our current system is called the Beagle, and the logo is of a cute sniffer dog- we love how playful it is, but yet a Beagle dog represents strong intuition)
Attached you will find
1) Our Mercer style guidelines for design. It is a long document, but in there are suggested font styles, colour charts etc.
2) Page 1: Our brainstormed concepts -Please make sure you review this document before designing/submitting a logo! we will not consider logos not aligned to our concepts. On this document you will see our concepts such as Scout uniforms; compasses; binoculars etc. These are things that represent what boy/girl scouts do and the design should be in line with these concepts. We love the idea of having a wolf, bear, owl etc. (any animal that is not a predator, that is forward thinking and savvy), with a monocle/neck scarf and a scouts hat! please get creative!
Page 2 has existing scout designs to AVOID for brand differentiation (as found when you Google Scout / images).
There are other scout things in Australia we need to avoid it looking similar:

(uses O as a compass)
