Project: The Records Access Documentation (RAD) Grants are for organisations to document records relating to people who spent their childhood in institutions (Care Leavers). This makes it easier for Care Leavers to find records about their lives in the institution, and even find out about who their family was. Successful projects will be funded to $15 000. This is the third time the grants round has been funded (previous years 2012 & 2016) and they may be funded again in the future. The RAD Grants are administered by Find & Connect (http://www.findandconnect.gov.au).
Use: The branding will be used on all RAD comms materials as a way of creating a familiarity with the grants round, as a signpost for those looking for information on the Grants on Find & Connect comms (http://www.findandconnect.gov.au), and to differentiate the grants round from the usual work of Find & Connect.
The branding will appear on the RAD page on the Find & Connect (F&C) website; alongside RAD posts on the F&C blog, the online application form, workshop presentation slides and any EDM’s.
Audience: The major target is records holders who we encourage to apply for grants. These are organisations that have the records that people who were in "care" want to know about & see. Secondary to that are Care Leavers themselves, advocacy groups, and allies in the community that can create a buzz around the grants round that will see it fully subscribed.
Tone: A major focus of the comms on these grants following feedback on the previous round is that there is support for those applying, the process is easy, and there are benefits for Care Leavers in the documentation of records and sharing of information about them. We’re looking for something dynamic & positive that reflects the work already done for Find & Connect (the soft shapes, circles, use of colour etc - none of these things have to be used, but we'd like the RAD branding to reflect Find & Connect)
Support: We want organisations to support Care Leavers to access their documents .
Document: The grants are available for record holders to find and record (“document”) the records they have about Care Leavers. This reduces the time spent trying to find records so supports both the record holder & the Care Leaver with efficient turn-around times that reduce stress.
Share: Descriptions of the documents will be shared on the F&C website. This will support Care Leavers in finding documents relevant to them more easily than they can now; as well as record holders who won’t need to pass Care Leavers around to different groups in their search for records.
We’re looking for something that is dynamic, positive, reflective of the elements developed for Find & Connect (shapes/colours/fonts whatever works best) and ties in the the messages detailed above. I've attached the Find & Connect Brand Guidelines so you can see those elements there.
