The rationale behind the name Fresh Coast Mama is partly based on location; we reside in the beautiful city of Vancouver in the Pacific Northwest, a fresh, vibrant and forward-thinking place. However, the reference to 'fresh coast' is more abstract than locational; we want to convey the concept of fresh new ideas.
We chose the word "mama", as opposed to mum or mom, as it relates to mothers everywhere, ie. mom being US only. The word "mama" also feels young and earthy.
The logo should be professional, dynamic, crisp and natural. It should make the site visitor feel:
The logo should convey a natural feel reflecting the natural subject matter and name. The design could incorporate natural elements of the Pacific Northwest (eg. cedar, fir, spruce) and/or elements relating to parenting or baby - or not. We do not have a definitive view on how the logo should look. We are open to an ‘outside the box’ and unique brand concept - a unique and recognizable design is most important.
Icon/Device: we would ideally like a standalone logo to be used followed by or incorporating the name, so as to allow the brand to become recognizable without the need for the name itself, (e.g. Starbucks circular siren logo).
Ideas for logo:
Incorporating mothers and babies/children into the logo is a possibility.
