There is certainly a good amount of history with the church, but we do not feel it is important to the designing of the logo, as we’d like to focus more on who we are now and where we are headed. The church building does not need to be considered as part of the logo, but a photo of the building is included for reference.
There are a number of things we feel might be most helpful for you, so here they are:
“Peace Lutheran Church exists for the purpose of bringing the Peace and Joy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the young and old of our hurting and troubled world.”
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the central truth in the Bible, the true Word of God, and the truth is clearly seen in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
We believe that we are all born with sin, and as a result we are enemies of God and deserve eternal death (hell) for our sins, and the only way for that to be fixed was for someone who was without sin to take our sins upon Himself, and that was done through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ who was fully God and fully man, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, and rose from the dead three days later conquering sin, death, and the devil. Through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, we have the forgiveness of our sins, we have the promise of eternal life, and we are no longer enemies, we are at peace with God. This is Good News for all who believe.
The Bible is the basis for all of our teachings and beliefs. We want to use the Bible, God’s Word for us, to faithfully proclaim this Gospel of Jesus Christ regularly in worship, in our ministries, and in our daily lives so that we can be strengthened by it and in turn share the Good News with all those in the world who do not know it. Just as God desires it, we want all people to live the “peace” that is theirs through the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who is Lord and Savior.
*We will provide a warm and friendly atmosphere in our facility and when we gather together where people of all ages and backgrounds can feel loved and accepted and encouraged in their life of faith.
*We will offer opportunities to learn more about God and thus grow spiritual through the study of God’s Word.
*We will take advantage of opportunities in the community to practice a ministry of presence.
*We will offer mission experiences for families, youth, and adults over the next five years.
*We will enhance the level of care given and received among our members and friends.
*We will broaden our church’s understanding and practice of generosity.
*We will not assume visitors or members know what Church is about, but will be clear in communicating opportunities to grow and to serve.
VISUAL AIDS FOR DESIGN
We would most likely want the name of the church to be a part of the logo, whether it is the full “Peace Lutheran Church” or just “Peace.” Because our central belief is about Christ and what He has done for us through His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead three days later, the logo should contain a cross of some kind so that we are identifiable as being Christ-centered.
Church Letterhead: Our current church letterhead is attached. It was designed by a member of the church, but it is not used as an official logo elsewhere. The Peace Dove and cross are prominent. The Peace Dove may be in the new design but it is not necessary.
Our theme verse is Ephesians 2:14a which says “For He (Jesus Christ) Himself is our peace…” This is meant to further aid you, inspire you in your designing, not necessarily something that needs to be included as part of the logo. The theme verse was used as a basis for a member-created banner in the church. It is attached. It may or may not be important inspiration.
Sign Outside the Church: We use the sign outside our church to make the community aware of events that are coming up, and to also put up comical or thought-provoking statements as people drive or walk by because we are located in a residential neighborhood. A photo is attached.
As you can see through these pictures, we have used the symbol of the peace dove in the past, and although it also doubles as a sign of the Holy Spirit it does not necessarily need to be an essential part of the design. We would like our logo to stand out to not only the members of our church, but would like it to be something that is recognizable to all people.
