We don't want something that's heavily Christianese (i.e., no big crosses, Bibles, Christian fish, rivers, etc.). People know that it’s a church and that’s enough to communicate the ‘Church/Christian’ part of our logo. And even though we are diverse in ages, we’d like a design that is appealing to Millennials.
We would also like the logo to be simple and scalable so that it looks good on a big banner and on the corner of a postcard.
A well-done emblem type logo is attractive; that way the logo could be used with or without the words, “Living Hope Church.”
We prefer complimentary color scheme in the logo, and only use 2-3 colors. See http://colorschemedesigner.com/
We do not want primarily grays/blacks as our name is ‘Living’ and dull colors do not necessarily communicate that. We are not insistent on the colors (blue/green), but they may work well, as we think they represent growth, life, etc.
Ideally, we’d like our logo to look good in color as well as in black and white, or a single color (think white print on a grey shirt).
Text Type Preferences
We also prefer “stock” fonts using either all caps or all lower-case. We do not want a custom designed font that is nearly impossible to duplicate for other related designs.
