Foot washing takes place on Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2014. We wash the feet of the homeless and poor in Ocean Beach, San Diego, California. Footwashing is the ultimate act of servanthood. It’s what Christ commanded us to do the night before he died. He taught us to love one another, expressed in action, washing feet. Our message to the people who receive a foot washing is: “You are loved. You are cared for. You are part of us. We are part of you.” Washing the feet of homeless people, side-by-side, expresses unity in Christ.
Mainly the people who come to the footwashing are homeless people and working, poor families.
Our target audience is people who are searching for a religion that takes action, that doesn't just talk about loving others, but actually does it. We want to appeal to people who may see us on the news, or passing by.
Other services we offer on this day: dental hygiene, haircuts, massage, veterinary services, AA, prayer, clothing ministry, children’s activities, meals, personal hygiene kits and a chance to feel loved.
