How The Charmed Studio started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
The Charmed Studio
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I am a journalist starting an interview-based blog to inspire, encourage and inform visual artists and makers with tips, marketing advice and stories that come directly from the hearts and studios of inspired artists who make a living from their creativity. A bulk of audience would be twenty somethings but maybe mostly wild fifty somethings living in North America, England, Australia and Netherlands. Probably 70/30 split of women to men. My subjects eccentric at times and my writing is humorous--so I attract more liberal minded folk who like to laugh and follow the lives of obscure artists from past and present-to see what they can learn from their adventures and misadventures.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Art & Design
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Other color requirements
was thinking black line drawing with one accent color. But open to ideas. Retro feel might be swell.
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
derived from nature, like the motion in the turning deer, the back round color is bit to "classy" for me though, lol.
whimsical, bold visually. I like a colored logo on white background though, like those below.
color and paint swirls, lettering too recessed for me though
nature based, nice balance of images and lettering. Communicates a lot of info with a line drawing.
like how the lettering sits in the cup of the design. Nice color balance
curves good, nice balance of linear and curvy.
I would like to communicate that an artist's studio can be a charmed nook, in which one can foster wonder. I like this quote by Gaston Bachelard on the necessity of small spaces:
“Thus the dream house must possess every virtue. How ever spacious, it must also be a cottage, a dove-cote, a nest, a chrysalis. Intimacy needs the heart of a nest. Erasmus, his biographer tells us, was long "in finding a nook in his fine
house in which he could put his little body with safety. "
One idea I had was a mason jar containing paint brush(es) and maybe a microphone . Mason jar could have fireflies within it or coming out of it or some symbol indicative of enchantment or wonder. Want to communicate to artist readers that by reading the blog they are entering a cozy, welcoming environment in which to discover great info that confirms why they originally chose to be an artist and how they can make a living at it. An easel another option. A garret, or eaves another thought. Probably too complex but in my head I see an enchanted garret. I want artists to read the blog and feel they can transform their own art studio and art practice into a charmed studio , a charmed practice. Want to visually communicate this is a place for of sanctuary, inspiration and information for artists. I like the line drawing of below, that is a logo for the writers den. I think the couch communicates to writers what I would like my symbol to communicate to artists. I have included 2 images that I would like to see a line drawing like this one, based on. Mason jar with fireflies or colored pencil holder or holders- open to some creative input on other container options or images around an easel or eaves or other elements of charmed studio. Thanks much!
