Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Landforce is a nonprofit organization that hires adults who have faced a variety of barriers entering the workforce -- whether due to former incarceration, poverty, a lack of education, difficulties as a returning veteran, or as a new refugee. These adults are hired as members of Landforce crews that help Pittsburgh nonprofits and municipalities steward land by constructing trails, restoring habitat, planting and caring for trees, removing invasive plants, and installing and maintaining rain gardens, bioswales and other green infrastructure. While working with Landforce, crew members receive a variety of skills training and support so that when they complete their 30 week terms with us, they can obtain and keep full-time, permanent, family-sustaining jobs.
