We want the logo to have a "badge" look. Here's an example of our inspiration https://www.pinterest.com/pin/91479436159304263/ We want the logo to have a "bottom" and a "top". The bottom would show some important information about the event (name, url, dates) and the top would show some iconic images that quickly illustrate what this event is all about (images related to tech such as computers, robots, etc.). If we do events like this in the future about different themes (e.g., "Aviation Week", "") our idea is to just update the copy on the bottom with the new theme and dates, and then post a new 99designs project (or work with the winning designer on this project) to update the graphics on the top of the logo to match the new theme. We hope to do events like this once a month on average.
Important info that needs to be in the Logo:
1. The event name: "Tech Week"
2. The dates for the event: "May 16-20"
3. The url to go to: "CareerVillage.org" (using the harabara font we use for our logo but only in a single color)
4. Place for a sponsor's name: "Sponsored by ACME Corp." (Possibly -- we want to see with and without)
5. Place where we could add on a message like "NEXT WEEK!" or "STARTS TOMORROW!" etc. (Also would love to see with or without -- we're not 100% sold on including this yet)
Files we're attaching:
(a) An example of the 2013 Great American Beer Festival logo which is an example we really admire. We like the bold colors. We like the really easy to read copy. We like how there are only two colors (three if you count white). We like the white border on the "bottom" section and the lack of a white border on the "top" section. We like the thoughtful illustrations used on the top that are very easy to recognize from a distance and match the theme of that event. We think the lettering they used is appropriate for their event, but ours should be different (we would be interested to see a few styles, including some more bold and playful styles like these awesome designs by Paul von Excite https://www.behance.net/gallery/188…type-Vol2)
(b) A couple of sketches of how we might apply this "badge" concept to our own event
(c) our logo and brand guidelines (NOTE: We do not want our full-color company logo to be inserted into the Tech Week event logo. Please just use our brand name "CareerVillage.org" in a single color such as white on a dark background or a single dark color using the brand font Harabara which is widely available online)
**EDIT: I think some of the first designers may have interpreted the comment above about the "single dark color" to be referring to the entire logo. That's not what I meant. I was only referring to specifically the URL CareerVillage.org. For the overall Tech Week logo (which is this project), we definitely want to see a lot of color in your designs using our color palette or at least a strong bright accent color)**
Feel free to pick your order for the content (what goes in the middle, bottom, etc.). For example in the sketches we provided we put TECH WEEK in the middle, CareerVillage.org below it, and the date below that. But if you follow the Great American Beer Festival example, they put "Great American" in the middle, BEER huge below it in a bright accent color, and Festival is slightly smaller below that). That might translate into the CareerVillage.org Tech Week logo somehow like this: "CareerVillage.org" across the middle, "TECH" really big below that in a bright accent color, smaller "WEEK" below it.
