Diverge needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 82 designs submitted by 24 freelance designers.
Coopon
Coopon is a revolutionary marketing concept in cooperative online daily deals, bringing social networking, social shopping and social activism together under one roof. Each day, advertisers and shoppers will have the opportunity to work together to save money on local merchants and change lives through cooperative charitable giving.
The logo will be a key part of the Web 2.0 web design. We love creative use of negative space. Feel free to play with the "coo" and "cooperative" and "coupon" themes of our brand in a creative way (i.e., a whimsical "pigeon" or "dove" character saying "coo"; or dashed coupon lines integrated into the logo). While the business models are similar, we do NOT want to imitate Groupon or Living Social's design in any way. The design should stand alone, as a unique and memorable identity. After we select an identity, we would be interested in discussing further graphic design for this system as well, so please let us know if you are interested in further work along this vein.
Here are some images that we like, from which you may wish to draw inspiration. Each of these files, of course, are copyright by their respective owners, and should be considered only for creative inspiration:
These images would make good fodder for a cute character with "stitched" edges, like the dashed lines of a coupon:

These characters are cute, but would need to be another color besides blue, in order to avoid confusion with the Twitter bird:

These cartoon pigeons are cute. Something like this would certainly make a distinct addition to our identity:

Of course, we would also love to see other creative designs that do not involve birds. Like Twitter, our logo design may need to stand independent from any "mascot" character we may use later.
