We are launching a new website that will provide users with the ability to research, review and plan trips to wine country. Central to the website will be information about individual wineries complete with user generated reviews and rankings. The website will be similar to Yelp, but focused exclusively on wineries, wine trails and wine. Unlike more traditional wine focused websites, we're hoping to set a tone that is fun, inviting and accessible to the mass market. Travel guides like Lonely Planet and Time Out are other good examples of the type of tone we intend to incorporate.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are targeting individuals that are planning trips to wine country. We want to be a one-stop destination that provides details on wineries, as well as other regional information (e.g. restaurants, hotels, activities, etc.). We want the site to be fun, yet informative. Ideally the site will cater both to wine enthusiasts, as well as wine novices. Thus, the overall look and feel should be fun/retro, yet feel authoritative.
We need to design a logo which incorporates the GrapeGuides name. We like the idea of incorporating a fun/funky/retro color scheme using purple and green. We want the logo to look hip and cool. There are a few ideas for potential logos that we have (please see below), but we are open to more suggestions.
1) GrapeGuides name followed by a tourism type circular sign denoting a winery (could use a wine bottle and wine glass or grapes).
2) Silhouette of a head of someone looking through binoculars, or some other explorer type look.
3) Some combination of the two G's in our name..
4) Something with grapes in it.
Again, these are just a few of our initial thoughts but we are definitely open for more ideas. We like designs that are simple and clean. The logo should incorporate ‘web safe’ colors and fonts, and be delivered in Photoshop.
