Cici, thank you for an amazing logo and all your hard work. You had done everything that I asked and nailed the win. We will do other work together in the future ;-)
How Sco77 started their logo design journey
My team and I are unique individuals that have uncommon skill sets that need to be efficiently and quickly communicated to busy (short attention span) professionals in the High Tech Engineering industry. This is a company of individual consultants; working alone or in teams, for any Electro/Mechanical design team in the world that is using PLM or Product Lifecycle Management software. Projects range from 1 week to 2 years. We enter as a strike force to assess, design, configure, deploy, and train highly skilled and technical professional design engineers to use and manage their projects in "Enterprise PLM Solutions". These solutions manage, track, implement, enforce and display engineering projects from concept through deployment until devices are thrown out (end of life). Specifically, we assist in the integration, storage and use of Electrical Computer Aided Design (ECAD) data in these systems.
The iPhone 4G is about to be released. The 2G, and 3G products are comprised of mechanical (speaker, mic, phone jack, touch screen) and electrical (PCB for ICs, and connecting the electronics) CAD designed parts that would be "stored and managed" in a PLM system. This keeps the changes to the design synchronized across the company during work in process, manufacturing etc.
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
High Tech business professionals, primarily male; Chief Technical Officers, Chief Engineering Officers, Chief Information Officers, Engineering Managers, Engineering Product Managers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, IT Managers. All VERY technical folks with short attention spans. They have a capacity for precise attention when something they see sparks their interest; especially when they have a need or problem that needs resolution.
The logo - graphic should encompass the concept of transferring ECAD data into a storage system for purposes of Lifecycle Management. "Keeping Data Managed and Under Control"
Some electrical Schematic symbols with a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) flowing/morphing into a manages system/product would be interesting.
Initial usage will be business cards and web page logos/branding.
Logo should incorporate the company name, though they can be separate.
claesDOTbiz - though this can be emphasized in different ways and fonts to be effective; CLAESdotBIZ, claes dot biz
A tag line under the graphic and logo should encapsulate the concept:
bringing ECAD to PLM
or merging ECAD into PLM
or integrating ECAD with PLM
From the logo-design store that are close but don't make it:
99designs.com/logo-design/store/421 - good graphic, bad font
See wiki pages on PLM and ECAD:
The "cycle" or wheel theme is typical in the industry for showing the product lifecycle concept.
