Bastrop, TX is the most historic small town in Texas, just 30 minutes east of Austin, TX. One of the unofficial sayings/slogans is "Just East of Weird" because Austin's nickname is weird. Bastrop is known as the "Lost Pines" because we boast a large number loblolly pine trees which are not common anywhere except in East Texas. We have a historic steel bridge that crosses the Colorado river and leads into our historic and lively downtown. Some of the common architectural features found through Bastrop is corrugated tin as siding on buildings and silos that are built artistically onto businesses (see the attached pictures). Bastrop has a growing arts scene and boasts monthly downtown art walks. We are a mixture of Austin weird/artsy/Texas/cowboy/rustic/historic.
