We really want designers to get creative and have fun with this one. Our primary desire is to reach unchurched people, so if you yourself are unchurched, make a logo that would make you say, "That's cool. I'd try that church." I know a logo isn't going to make anyone go to church, but we don't want something that's heavily Christianese either (no big crosses, Christian fish, rivers, etc.). If these things are included, just make sure they're subtle.
If you can make the logo have an Austin flavor, that's bonus! If you can somehow incorporate our mission or vision statement above, that might be cool too. As you saw, I didn't give you direction with our "values," because we truly want to reach all of Austin. I guess if I had two values in which we'd move the dials SLIGHTLY, it would be towards subtle and serious. Those are just my personal preferences because I think they most closely relate to us. Honestly, we truly will go with the best design, even if it's a stylized way to write an "a." We also like the idea of having a pictorial or abstract mark that people would see on signage and door hangers that would easily brand us in their memory. The emblem logo is cool too, and if I was leaning a particular direction, it might be that actually.
We prefer a monochromatic or complimentary color scheme in the logo, and only use 2-4 colors. For more information, go to http://colorschemedesigner.com. We also prefer sans serif fonts using either all caps or all lower-case. ***PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR US IS AN ORIGINAL DESIGN. PLEASE DO NOT USE SOMETHING WE CAN FIND ON STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY WEBSITES. THANK YOU.***
