Applied Steel Detailing LLC
My organization provides shop and erection drawings for steel structures or the steel in structures. My customers will primarily be steel fabricators, but could include steel erectors, engineers, architects, and general contractors.
I'd like to explore the following colors:
Let designers make suggestions:
Dark neutrals: Formality, mystery, exclusivity and luxury.
Light neutrals: Purity, balance and sophistication.
I would love it if my company developed a nickname, and I'd love my logo to encourage it. I'd prefer be known as "ASD" rather than the lengthy 'Applied Steel Detailing' - although my email and website will still be lengthy. So I was thinking the ASD could be stacked vertically somehow, and the remainder of each word in my logo was a smaller and maybe different font, or something similar to this, I'm really open to suggestion.
I'd love my logo to instill into my customer's minds that I am focused (applied) on doing an excellent detailing job for them.
I'd love to see steel shapes, sections, or even structure looking designs in my logo. If you search google images for 'structural steel' you'll see tons of pictures of steel I produce drawings for on a daily basis, I think this should assist in helping design a logo.
*UPDATE* The examples posted aren't really close to what I'd want, but I liked the designs all the same - I'm hoping designers will rely more on my description than the examples. Another thing I forgot to mention is that I think I'd prefer my logo has a 'white' background or 'clear' if that's possible. I'm definitely going to be using it on sets of drawings so I wouldn't want a black square + logo on a mostly white drawing, that would look bad.
*UPDATE -2* I'm not sure if I'm legally required to have 'LLC' as part of my logo, I'm pretty sure it has to be part of my business name. If I'm not legally required to have LLC on the logo, it'd be my preference to not have it. *EDIT/UPDATE* - I WANT LLC IN THE LOGO. I did some research on this and I've decided it would be best to have the LLC part in the logo.
*UPDATE -3* All decent designs so far everybody, but very basic... I mean you guys are sending various fonts arranged in very cool ways. But they're just fonts... I want to see shapes - someone sent a design where he incorporated an I shape as part of the S which is cool because I-beams are very common in my industry... I loved the creativity in that. I'd love to see more shapes, more specifically steel shapes, in the designs. Keep up the good work everybody.
*UPDATE -4* Colors aren't going to be a huge eye-catcher to me. My logo will most-often be looked at on my actual drawings (my product) where the logo will be black and white. Shading could be visible on said drawings so there is room for some creativity there, but mostly black and white. That being said, I love some of the colors I've seen, especially the polished steel look on some of the designs. I feel that these are still good to look at for things like a Website and Email signature etc... There's still a lot of places where the logo would look good with some color. So please consider those factors when choosing colors on the design.
*UPDATE -5* Congratulations to the finalists. I've eliminated the majority of the remaining designs with just a few left. So far, I'm the most inclined to select design numbers 96 or 158 as a winner. The others I've kept around as potential alternates, but it's more likely to be 96 or 158. What I'd like to see from the designers at this point is variations of these designs with perhaps added creativity. Keep in mind, changing colors won't help much... we're dealing more with black and white... as soon as I pick a final design we'll work out some color. Thanks everyone, and good luck.
