Mattias Persson needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 437 designs submitted by 123 freelance designers.
I am a garden designer. I have come up with an idea much like 99designs.com but for garden designers. GardenCrowd.com will be a community for garden design where people that has a garden are invited to come and start a contest to get their own garden designed. There are two target groups. The garden owners that wants the garden designed by the crowd (=designers) and the garden designers, gardeners, artists from all over the world (much like you ;-). It is really important for me that the garden designers (crowd) has a good environment and has a good life on the website I am about to release. Now I want a logo that reflects this warm environment and at the same time is stylish and appealing to the garden owner who wants the garden designed. I want you to help me design this logo. Show me once more that the crowd is capable of great things.
Garden Crowd
The logo should represent a warm but elegant environment, emitting feelings of a butterfly passing by on a summer day with flowers and green trees.
The crowd located all over the world is also important to focus on. The power of the crowd, the diversity and the knowledge that the crowd has is unique. Think of all the different and amazing ideas you come up with here.
In exploring words that seemed to fit for the feel of the logo, we came up with the following: Warm, friendly, clean, classy, possibly stylized, professional, contemporary, high end, organic.
The target audience is between 25-55 years old, that is a garden owner that has a garden that they want to get designed, or garden amateurs, garden designers and other designers who wants to join the garden design community and compete for prices, learn more about design or teach others and get credit for it. The website will be http://www.gardencrowd.com
Colors: At this time, we're somewhat partial greens and blue. The green obviously reflects the garden. But feel free to play around here. I will narrow down the color range when I feel you have found the right ones.
Fonts: Clean and streamlined - no serif fonts -more 'helvetica' types. Open to caps or lower case or combination – we’ll know it when we see it. No retro or cartoonish please.
Don't be afraid to ask questions!!! Maybe something is unclear. I will try to clearify things here below. Look in the discussion as well. There I will post my thoughts. I am really excited to see your creativity!
---- UPDATE ----
I realize now that I do not want any "curvish" styles.
- Brandable - unique look - not generic to be confused with so many others
- Organic, professional, classy, contemporary
- Logo must work in all formats for many media outlets. Most importen is logo for the website. Also to work from business cards to full banner displays (ball caps, t-shirts, packaging, cars, airplanes, space shuttles etc.;-) Meaning I will need vector format.
- 'cartoonish'
- Clip-art
- generic
- Photographs
