How YSS - Stuart started their logo design journey
Yarra Star Sourcing
We're a group of Australian entrepreneurial types that have got together to start-up a trading company that imports manufactured products from (mainly) Asia into Australia.
We're looking to position ourselves to be a customers international buying office, whereby we can source the products they want, select the best manufacturer of those product and then supply them directly to the customers warehouse.
We've got a related business, based in China, that visits and accredits suppliers through the Asian region to ensure that product quality standards are met and we present these to the customer as part of their purchase.
The personality we're trying to get across through our branding is that we are trustworthy, reliable, have high levels of integrity and experience. The logo should reflect a level of creative intelligence but still be conservative. A number of our intended competitors are a bit dubious!
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The products we're looking to import are mainly industrial items used by 'heavy' industries such as agriculture, mining, chemicals, manufacturing etc. As such products will generally be commoditised and non-fashionable such as being made from steel or plastic. I would imagine that the majority of our customers will be middle aged men! They will be cost focussed but heavily reliant on meeting specific quality standards.
Generally these industries are fairly conservative and risk averse, due to the high capital nature of their companies and the high cost if things don't work out the way they are supposed to!
We are looking for a logo to represent our company: Yarra Star Sourcing.
I'd like to see a logo that incorporates a 'star' or 'stars', but I'm open to alternate suggestions. I think the trick here is going to be to design something that's intelligent and interesting without being too confronting for our potentially conservative customers!
I'm also open to the logo focussing on the 'Yarra Star' part of the company name as I think customers may abbreviate it to this over time.
The logo will need to be in a vector format for Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. It will also be required in a PDF, JPEG & EPS.
Please only use original designs, do not use any stock images or clip art.
