What's your vision?
“What you say vs. what your designer hears” will be a social series illustrating humorous client versus designer miscommunications via shareable and humorous memes. We asked designers on the 99design's forum what their craziest client interactions were, and selected six to be illustrated by the community (designers can choose to illustrate as many as they want, but we do ultimately need to select one winner for each quote). All memes should include the corresponding quote as text in the image. The six quotes that will need to be illustrated are: 1. “The trees look too American.” (this feedback was selected because it is overly vague. An example illustration concept could be red, white and blue trees eating hotdogs with trucker hats on) 2. “The logo is a lightning bolt. It should look realistic. But also minimalist. And you should only recognize it when it is revealed to you. Only the initiated should be able to see the lightning bolt.” (this feedback was selected because it is an impossible request. An example illustration concept could be a secret society that makes heavy-use of lightning bolt image/symbolism) 3. “Can you add some testosterone to the design?” (this feedback was selected because it is confusing. An example illustration concept could be taking a design that isn't typically associated with being hyper-masculine and giving it huge muscles, or a very dark/rough/masculine visual style) 4. “When I see the website design, I want to feel the urge to lick the buttons.” (this feedback was selected because the expectations are unrealistic. An example illustration concept could be a Call To Action button that is made to look like realistically like candy) 5. “Could you send me the design in pixels? You sent it to me in megabytes.” (this feedback was selected because it uses design term incorrectly. An example illustration concept could be a pile of/package full of pixels that is labeled "Your Design") 6. “Make it blue. That’s too blue. Make it green. Actually, that’s too green. Wait, I forgot to tell you. I’m color blind.” (this feedback was selected because it is nitpicky.)
