morea.steinhauer got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Create an hip CD sleeve (front & back, and disc) for a Prayer CD Project

A prayer CD (read prayers with instrumental piano music in the background) as a meditative/reflective tool around specific prayer topics
What's your vision?
Project (i.e. designing a CD sleeve case with a (a) front (b) back and (c) design on the CD itself. Currently it is only the one CD, but we are wanting the design to be something where it is easy to change very little and it be branded similarly -- and yet clear to the viewer that it is different volume (as the project's aspiration is to have several volumes. (What will this mean? not sure...maybe a different color and a discrete "volume x" noting on each CD? Maybe a different idea... but this is the intention). Free to be creative in how to visually distinguish from one CD to the next. The design space would be essentially three parts --- front of the cardboard sleeve, the back of the cardboard sleeve, and the CD itself. (We are wanting to have just a simple basic CD sleeve -- We haven't decided on a specific company yet, but as an example could be from this website http://www.easydisc.net/en/eco-jacket/) The project has been named "A Time of Prayer" with "Prayers of Specificity" as a phrase that would be like a tagline or additional information cluing the person into that this prayer CD is for both individuals meant for people with lots of experience with prayer/praying, as well as those just coming to their faith. Will also give credit to "Laurine Joseph" on the front, as well as noting that it's "Volume I" (i.e first, with aspirations of more in the future) The back of the CD sleeve will have: copyright, listing a few names (of the musicians, voiceover talent, etc of those that helped out -- and you would get credit too), contact information to order more, etc .....essentially a tiny paragraph that many CDs have with that kind of fine print. THE CD itself would have: Super simple graphics in harmony with the CD jacket sleeve that would have the name of the CD, volume, Laurine's name, and contact info in fine print of where more could be purchased.
This is a dream project of Laurine coming into fruition. The target audience is for Christians that attend mega-churches. Commonly individuals seek images of nature for such projects (i.e. a sun over a peaceful meadow -- a bridge over water -- a waterfall with trees and sun raise coming through -- a lake with the sun rising over the lake --- a forest with the sun peaking/shining through -- etc). Idea to explore tranquil settings, as this guided prayers about specific topics would lead the listener to be in a meditative/reflective state. But instead of a literal image of these things, looking to more simply and graphically have these concepts of nature come into being. (Also open to there not being any graphics and simply the font of the title and subtitle be the ‘graphics’ per say of the cover.) The mood board of things that so far came to mind as visual inspiration was from the children's book "hello sacred life" (specifically the 'light' and 'sun' pages -- see attached images -- source: https://www.thewildunknown.com/prod…cred-life). What is inspirational is the simple way of connecting to nature (through fairly simplistic lines and coloring), a feeling of radiating inspiration, a bridge of hope in sometimes hard and difficult times through prayer. As well as the prayerful hand graphic of the RC Sproul book (see attached). But truly open to how this could be interpreted. Very much looking forward to this process.
