I am targeting people seeking financial advice or technical information about superannuation, but who would prefer to obtain information from an unbiased and non-conflicted source. I am a former financial adviser and have just written a book about the dangers of self managed superannuation funds (SMSF)....probably never written about before in a formal book. This book aims to spill the beans on the SMSF industry and its lies and deception. Target audience is 35 years plus, people earning over $100,000 p.a. and includes those that already have a self managed fund, as well as those contemplating establishing one. Already 1 million Australians have an SMSF and about 40,000 new SMSFs are established each year, so the target audience is massive. The average SMSF member has $500,000 in super so they are very well-off and should be prepared to spend $102 on my book to save them from making large and costly errors.

I need an MREC advert designed which will appear on the following website: www.superguide.com.au The ad will appear near the top of the homepage just to the right of the heading "How Superannuation Works". This ad must be a flash banner. The ad really needs to stand out so I am thinking orange or sky blue background. There needs to be a fair bit of text in the ad to get the viewer's interest and get my points across, so this may be a bit of a challenge fitting it into an MREC. The ad is to promote and sell an ebook I have just written on the dangers and disadvantages of Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSF). The ebook is one of those topics that people don't realise they have a problem until someone tells them about it (i.e. quite esoteric). I have included a powerpoint slide presentation of a sample ad I did myself....this is the best I can manage! My ad will also appear in Superguide's monthly enewsletter (June edition) which cannot support SWF images and I am pretty sure this ad must be a static banner. All creative must be ready to be handed over to the advertiser ready for live site publication. When the viewer clicks on my ad they MUST be redirected to my ebook landing page so they can purchase it.
This ebook is $102 so fairly expensive. But it is cheaper than the CCH Master SMSF Guide ($180)....the content of my book is of a similar, if not better standard. However rather than promoting SMSFs, my book warns consumers of the dangers and technicalities of self managed super funds and the tens of thousand of dollars in ongoing additional fees and taxes they may face by setting one up, over the long term. The challenge I have in selling this book is that I am not a high profile industry figure....so potential purchasers will not know me; however I am well qualified and well experienced in giving financial advice, and wish to lift the lid on what I see as an industry-wide scam, i.e. SMSFs do not deliver what their promoters say they will achieve. The real advantage I have is that I am out of the financial advice industry hence have nothing to gain by pushing a certain agenda...so potential consumers should be able to rest assured that the contents of my book is honest and trustworthy. What motivated me to write the book is that I became sick of the lies and deceit that is peddled by the advice industry.
