UnPoverty: Rich Lessons from the Working Poor
New author, new book, new movement to end poverty for the more than 1 billion people living on about $1 per day. The book is called UnPoverty: Rich Lessons from the Working Poor. All proceeds from book sales to be donated to eight strategic charities - over 15,000 copies already pre-sold for September 1 release. Want to give people a resource to learn about the book, the author, and ways to get involved in the fight against extreme poverty.
This book is designed to reach anyone teen-aged and older who cares about poverty alleviation. Many readers will already be familiar with international development but as a collection of stories, UnPoverty is accessible to anyone who cares enough to learn more about the experience of those living in extreme poverty. That crowd tends to be wealthier and well-educated, as well as media savvy. The book is endorsed by several progressive evangelical Christians.
Other organizations would include the ONE campaign or One Day's Wages - please take a look at their websites. Other organizations/conferences/movements who we are aligning ourselves with are Catalyst Conference, Compassion International, Opportunity International.
Please see attachments. To be considered, you must stick to the attached outline. Questions can be sent to email@example.com. We will need a layered PSD file to complete the coding of the WordPress site.
Above all this is a simple website: learn about the book, the author (Mark Lutz), how you can get involved, our social media, done. Clean and user-friendly are important, as is SEO.
The color scheme must echo the book cover (image attached). It should look earthly and natural. The book is about poverty, but it's also about hope: we love the image of the man on the bike on the cover, with the bit of red that pops. No stock images, please.
Here are some author/book sites we want to emulate:
~http://www.theholeinourgospel.com/ (best all-around)
~http://www.shaunaniequist.com/ (easy to find the info you're looking for - so simple)
~http://abiah.com/ (great example of rotating panel on the homepage)
~http://www.brianmclaren.net/ (great example of horizontal navigation - but we're NOT going to be posting frequent blog entries this way)
~http://greenletterbible.com/ (great example of nature-looking design)
Thanks for your interest in the UnPoverty website!
