Art & Design
Hi Designers, greetings from New York! I need a fresh, yet classic design for an art gallery focusing on Japanese pottery (particularly the 20th century Mingei movement - e.g. Shoji Hamada, Kanjiro Kawai, Tatsuzo Shimaoka, etc.) and fine art. Shoji Hamada has been called one of the greatest abstract expressionists... All of Mingei art is both ethereal and visceral -- in many ways, a coincidence of opposites. Target audience would be knowledgeable and discerning art collectors from all over the world. I'm looking for a minimalist design - something refined, yet rustic; delicate, yet robust - in keeping with the principles of Mingei. A harmony of opposites. One of the most important guiding principles for this gallery is that of lineages - both the artists represented (Shoji Hamada and his grandson Tomoo Hamada, for example) and the owners of the gallery. I see the 5 cranes in the attached 18th century scroll as two parents swooping down to meet and help elevate the 3 rising youngsters. Please feel free to contact me directly if I can provide any further color.... Thank you for considering this contest!
Other color requirements
I'm open to suggestions in terms of color scheme - the original colors of the crane scroll can be modified - as long as the symbolism and overall intent are preserved. Overall, I think earthy and warm colors would work best.
It all began with a design brief.
A quick, interactive guide helped them understand their design style and captured exactly what they needed in their logo & brand identity pack.
Designers across the globe delivered design magic.
dcbrenneman collaborated with designers to refine their ideas

99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Louise did a great job on a logo contest but we ultimately didn't choose here design for our logo (we simply went a completely different direction.
However, we loved her design so much we hired her directly to create here design for us in formats that we could use to create artwork of different sizes to hang in our various buildings and offices.
She is great to work with and we highly recommend her!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
