Blurb: Daring, unique and wonderfully human. Meet 30 Black Sheroes who shook Britain. Patricia Scotland, the youngest woman to ever become a Queens Counsel Barrister in over 200 years at the Bar. Margaret Busby, Britain’s youngest ever book publisher, only twenty years old when she made history. Fanny Eaton, a young black mum who dared to model in the Victorian Era, and redefined art and beauty standards by showing up as herself. Did you know black women helped Britain during the Great Wars by flying aircrafts, serving as Medical Secretaries and Acting Corporals? How about after the Second World War, when they boarded the Empire Windrush in thousands and sailed to British shores to rebuild the nation from ruins and kickstart the NHS. Across British history, black women have been creators, lawmakers, multiple Olympic gold medallists, models, pioneering nurses, actors and so much more. Some were born here, while others migrated with their families. Though their reasons for coming and staying are dynamic, what remains consistent is that black women have shown up for our nation in big ways. Their stories should be known, their impact celebrated. Black British women are more than their struggle and you can uncover their legacy as never before told.
