Colors of Hope: A Devotional Journal from LGBTQIA+ Christians
Melissa Guthrie Loy, editor
Melissa Guthrie Loy is an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Executive Director of Disciples Alliance Q, the LGBTQIA+ advocacy ministry of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Iowa native is a former high school English teacher in rural North Carolina and a graduate of Wartburg College and Wake Forest University’s School of Divinity. Her family lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A 5.5” by 8.5” paperback, this book is a faith-based resource for the LGBTQ+ community. Colors of Hope uses the iconic Pride Flag as the core of a nine-week-long reflection and devotional journal. The flag’s eight colors is each tied to a specific symbolic theme. Colors of Hope includes a page each day for readers to journal, doodle, or otherwise reflect on the theme. The book also includes an introduction, benediction, and a list of resources and/or bibliography for the LGBTQIA+ community.
The book is written for LGBTQ+ Christian teens. Secondary audiences include the larger LGBTQ+ community as well as their allies such as parents, teachers, and youth workers.
